ただいま！久しぶり！ more photos at the 庙会
i'm finally back to the blogging world =)
have been so lazy to organise my photos and blog about cny stuff..
but i need some space for me to start fangirling
about taiyou no namida and the countless performance
so i decided to fill you guys in about the past 2.5 weeks XD
super super long post!
my cny holidays started from the 4th of febuary all the way till the 12th
but in return i have to work on the weekend before the 4th
on friday, my boss gave everyone a cny treat
and tried to force me (and everyone) to drink beer
luckily i have nice colleagues who helped me out
HAHHA, they said i drank one whole cup already
when i only drank a few sips, wahaha..
in the end still drank about half a cup, limit liao..
we were feeling very high when i reached home
so we decided to check out places around our area
went to this quiet bar cum cafe place and ordered some drinks
as usual, i HAD to drink milk tea, haha..
because alcohol wa dame dayo..
played asshole dai di and went home ard midnight..
roomie started to have rashes!
yuan lai roomie is the same as me!
cannot drink too much alcohol, if not will kena rashes =p
celebrated our one month's anniversary in beijing at 鬼街 on saturday
had steamboat!!! yea, my favourite =)
had desserts afterward at this hk-like dessert shop
mango ice and milk tea, wahaha..
played overnight mahjong, lost some money
and went straight to work in the morning..
was totally in a blank state of mind the whole day
luckily everyone was already in a holiday mood
and boss let us go at around 3pm so i went straight home and slept XD
den on monday i started my cny hols!, i went to cut and dye my hair!
last time i dyed my hair, it was at clarke quay that time
so it's about time for me to get a dye =D
everything cost around RMB260 which is quite expensive sia =p
but i have a new hair colour for the new year ^^
and my roomie also had a new rebellious dye too~
brown and red leh, hahaha..
was looking for swimming costume cos we're going 温泉 for our trip
tried our the singapore food for dinner! yum =)
reunion dinner with my housemates and haidian people on wednesday~
we had this international buffet at the cafe within our apartment
it's something like sakura buffet bah
got chinese dishes, got western food and sashimi! =)
HAHAHA, thus the messy plates XD
and because my housemates are so good at talking to girls
we got a super big discount..
in the end our meal went from 98RMB per person to only 80RMB!
the backview is an indoor swimming pool, super pretty
but also super expensive to become their member, haha..
see the things we are holding in our hands?
hahaha, it's fireworks and fire crackers!
we decided to join in the fun and light them when it's near midnight ^^
and because we wanted to save our stuff till midnight
we have to go and watch free shows by other people, haha..
the fireworks are really damn near to us..
like just above our heads..
i've never seen so much fireworks going off at the same time in my life before
the feeling is excited and touched..
but also scared that some things will fall on my head
although i duno what, hahaa..
but not very successfully though~
their sparklers are very long and you can spin it about
but it burns out very quickly strangely =p
cos it is one of the designated area for putting fire crackers and fireworks
and it was already very crowded!
everyone was taking turn to light their own fireworks and stuff
and we just stood there to watch the free show XD
i excitedly called my family and let them listen to the firecrackers
and at the same time wished my mum happy new year =)
when i was standing there under the fireworks
alot of things were running through my mind
trying to find words to describe my feeling
wanted to record down what i was feeling at that exact moment
but i had forgotten what is it i wanted to say already
after almost 3 weeks of not blogging about it, bleah..
so after watching the fireworks awhile
i thought i was going deaf and choking to death so i went into the house
and webcam my family in my room
which has a perfect view of the fireworks..
hahaha, actually every corner of beijing has a good view of fireworks
cos every second there will be someone putting fireworks~
in the end, everyone came back
and i realise they finished putting all the stuff we bought!
so sad i couldn't try lighting some fireworks myself =p
caihong with the mickey deco at our door~
and the lanterns deco outside our house..
one whole night of HTHT..
and we have to wake up early to go to 地坛庙会 on 大年初一
a 庙会 is like an extended version of pasar malam
and something very close to a japan matsuri!
actually i tink it is closer to the latter
cos a pasar malam sounds too casual, and a matsuri is more festive =)
we went for singapore food at 建外SOHO again~
singapore food for the first meal of the year, what a happy thing =)
and the captain gave us a free plate of fruits too..
maybe because we are the first customer of the year also ^^
first time we are taking the subway line 5
and like what ah fai told me, line 5 was alot cleaner and nicer than line 1 and 2
alighted at the stop before 雍和宫 and took a bus to the 庙会
it was super crowded there and all we could see at the entrance
were heads and more heads, together with lots of windmills and lanterns
we gathered at one corner and started to distribute our tickets
and some people thought we were selling them =p
like windmills, masks, hats, soft toys, blah blah blah..
and basically the fun of it all is to squeeze amongst the people
and buy whatever useless things they sell there..
hahaha.. and being impulsive like i am, i bought those useless things
at the end of the day, i was holding the most things in my hands (><)
but it really helps you get into the festive mood yo =)
and they are so creative when it comes to coming up with games
like pulling a string among thousands of strings attached to presents
rolling a block thingy so that it lands exactly on a line
and of cos, xiao cai's favourite game..
which is hitting a pool ball
so that the 5 coins on top of the balls falls out of the red circle drawn..
xiao cai's undying determination cost him 40RMB
but in the end he still couldn't master the art of the game =p
and thanks to xiao zhuo for helping me win a tarepanda!
i 不舍得 take it out from the plastic bag sia.. hahaa..
so it's lying at one end of my bed now ^^
the ice thingy is a 冰雕 of the olympics sign and rats
to signify the year of the rat~
and it is there cos there is a 冰雕 exhibition at the 庙会 
not alot of them cos it was just about a football field size big
inside a factory like place..
there were things like 北北 京京 欢欢 迎迎 你你
the various tourist attractions in china and stuff like 八仙过海
freezing cold inside the place
and roomie took a piece of ice the size of lighter without permission
tsktsktsk..
and before i forget..
taupok culture brought to china! lol
and the victim is non other than my six-days-a-week, hahaha..
poor six-days-a-week's jacket
became dirty beyond words and still not washed till this day (><) hahaha..
cos we're going skiing!
and to go budget, we decided to bring our own lunch
which is sandwiches~
in the end, our sandwiches also not cheap!
cos we have milo gao3 gao3, peanut butter gao3 gao3, egg, jam
and some even have extra ham , lol~
woke up super early on 初二 morning
cos we need to travel to 复兴门 to take the tour bus to the ski place
had mac breakfast and off we go!
slept through the 2-hour bus trip cos i was super tired..
reached the skiing place called 莲华山 at about 930am
jasmine and siewkee borrowed a set of clothing too as u can see =)
after much negotiation, we decided to hire 2 coaches
at the price of 70RMB per person for one hour
learnt some basics such as moving forward and braking from them
climbed up the beginner's slope and attempted skiing down
succeeded in not falling down! hahaa, but i dun think i've gotten the tactic yet
went for a few more tries down the slope
fell down a few times and i felt like i want to go the next slope!
had lunch after awhile..
everyone eating the 爱心 sandwiches that we prepared~
and after slacking around awhile
and visiting the toilets in our super awkward shoes
we proceeded back to ski =)
doesn't look much steeper but when you are on top then you will know =p
at least for me la..
saw jasmine and asked her to go with me
but i lost her along the way so in the end i went alone (><)
the intermediate slope is so high and so much steeper
in the end i fell 3 times before i was even halfway down the slope
bleahs..
so i decided to be 安分守己 and go back to the beginner's slope
skiied down the beginner's slope a few more times
before we started to take photos and fool around =p
but unfortunately some drama took place
summary: our card got switched mysteriously
and so we couldn't get our deposit back until the other person returns our card
WTF!
so in the end xiao zhuo, xiao cai and jasmine stayed behind
while the rest of us left with the tour bus for our dinner
in the end they couldn't catch up with us
so we had to da bao their dinner for them to eat at the hotel
at first we were unable to get the 温泉 tickets at the discounted price
but our tour guide was nice enough to help us get it from another tour guide
so in the end, all 9 of us were able to go to the 温泉!
but it was kind of not worth it cos there were many people there
all the the ponds were like packed with people of all ages (><)
but still a relaxing time after all the skiing and falling =p
and because it was 温泉
there are no pictures except for the one they took at the door
and after the tour ended, we went by haidian to have dinner =)
and a dessert called 香蕉拔丝!
and it hardens so that when you eat it
there are streaks of sugar connecting, hahaha
sorry for the lousy description, i duno how to explain, haha..
it can be made with apple and sweet potato also =)
this one is free of charge, whereas the previous one we went cost 25RMB
most of the stuff are about the same
but there are some different things on sale
so i bought another windmill and some presents for you people =)
dinner at a korean restaurant at chao yang men
monday is the last day of holiday for the guys
and the second last day of holiday for us
we decided to go to 天坛
which is the place where emperors pray to the god in the past
woke up very early in the morning
cos we read that there is some ceremony going on specially during cny
it's supposed to be the ceremony when the emperor is praying to the heaven
we went on to the place for the second ceremony
and we managed to chop the best view right in the middle!
wahaha..
but some drama took place again
summary: someone wanted to squeeze in to our place
and in the midst of everything, it turned ugly
stranger was very fierce, tried to strangle qin ning!
alvin shouted at her, damn fiercely
police came, and after awhile settled the matter
we continue watching the show =)
my hands and face were freezing as i was watching the performance
the moment we stepped out of the 天坛, it was not so cold anymore -.-
freaky..
and evidence of us being super cold..
went to this other area within the 天坛
and there is this piece of stone in the middle of 9 rounds of tiles
each round is made of tiles of a multiple of 9
i even went to count the outermost circle
and it really has 81 tiles! hahaha..
it is said that if you stand on the middle stone and speak
your voice will be very bright and sound =)
thus we all wanted to have a try..
duno what we are trying to do though =p
we played some blackjack on tuesday =)
i lost money, as usual..
i think it has something to do with me always owing money over cny
bleahs..
look at big winner xiao zhuo with so many chips
and biggest loser of the night, xiao chen.. XD
okie! that's all for cny..
i wanted to post videos but it's damn irritating
and keeps slowing down my blogger..
so i'm sorry, no videos! XD
