woo! this is soooo overdue!
i think everyone saw the 1001 photos all over facebook
unless you are like -i duno who- who don't have facebook
then you are probably seeing these photos for the first time =)
and it is none other than our 青岛 trip!
i didn't even find the name slightly familiar until i reached 青岛
and was reminded of the "还我青岛" quote from 《冬夜》!! hahaha..
yep, that's where we went =)
arrived super early at the 北京站
reached about 930pm when our train is at 1050pm, hahaa..
kiasu-ism..
in the end, we just stood around and waited for others to arrive
*excited!*
so the whole group of us, about 20 people got the hard seats instead
we thought it was okay to endure the 8 hours ride
but we were wrong man.. haha..
this picture shows the situation of the train cabin CONSTANTLY..
see the man kinda stuck on the wall at the back
that's how cramp the whole place was..
we boarded the train at the last minute
and there were already alot of people in the cabin
we were supposed to be holding the seats tickets
and the rest of them are just standing tickets
but they were already sitting on our seats when we got on
and some refused to get up =/
but it was a miracle that we managed to get on the train le
cos it was already full when we reached
imagine the horror and shock we got o.O
the people just spit on the carpets
and then proceed to sit around on the floor, on their luggage
and what's worse, they sat on the table between me and meizhen
placing her big, fat butt beside meizhen's face..
so hard seats are now condemned and termed as a "slump" by xiao chen
reached 四方站 around 7 plus in the morning
and everyone is looking extremely tired
because it was impossible to sleep in that kind of environment sia
the programme for the first day was to visit the famous 崂山 in 青岛
and because the mountains are so damn far away
xinyi managed to help us secure a tour bus at a package price of 100RMB
and it includes the entrance tix to 3 different places =)
but first we left our luggage at the youth hostel
and had some breakfast while waiting for the bus to arrive
and then it was off to the first location..
we drove past several tourist attractions in 青岛
and then arrived at this pearl breeding place
suddenly i felt like i was on an auntie tour group
after telling us how their pearls were bred and extracted
they brought us to a showroom kind of place and obviously, wanted us to buy
hahaha, they must be soooo disappointed when we left after walking one round
please lor, where got 20 plus year olds buy pearls one o.O
somemore we live in a youth hostel leh
does it look like we can afford pearls.. =p
first the tour guide wanted us to pay 40RMB to take cable car up
which we weren't told in the first place
but oh well, we were there already..
then some woman wanted to sell us torchlights cos the 觅天洞 is very dark
and we can't see without a torchlight
whatever..
no one fell prey, hahaha.. we are smart people okae..
when i saw that the cable car was like practically open
i was damn scared, hahaa..
but luckily the distance from the car to the ground was constantly quite low
it was still okay =)
and i made a new friend called clarence, who was my cable car buddy
the cable car stopped at the entrance to 觅天洞
and it took us quite awhile to go in cos there was a major traffic jam, haha
the cave is indeed quite dark
luckily the people in front of me shone their handphone lights and guided me..
*phew*
we finally saw light! haha..
began taking lots of pictures and taking our time..
but we were actually late in meeting our tour guide already
and we have no idea where to exit this mountain
so we just kept walking and taking pictures
until we saw the cable car that was going downwards..
wanted to take cable car with my buddy
who can crap the way through my whole ride so i would not be scared
but he was lost somewhere taking pictures
so it was xiao chen who went down with me..
and i realise that the cable car wasn't so scary after all..
it's all in the mind =p
and you have to step on each one on the way up the mountain
but actually there is only like 20 plus of them
cos 88 of them are at the door
and you only need to 意思意思 step on the biggest one
hahaha.. and so i attempted to step on all the lotus but failed
keep forgetting some along the way
and according to the person, number 105 lotus cannot be stepped first
must go all the way to the top and only step on 105 before you leave
so that you can bring the 五福平安 home
but i act smart go and step before the person told me, hahaa..
and the elephant in the picture above
according to the person, if you touch different parts of it
there is good luck for different things
then touch from head to back will bring you super good luck, or something lidat =p
also took a photo under the 缘 stone
which signifies the different types of 缘分 you have with the people you know
somewhere along the way, we went to this tea shop too
and after listening to the person talk about benefits of the different tea
i decided to buy! hahaha..
turns out that alot of people are willing to buy too
think it's cheap bah, and it's 崂山's specialty..
decided to buy some for my relatives..
just for the sole purpose of taking photos
we were given like 5 minutes to snap what we want and go..
i really hate the feeling of following tours man o.O
which is a boat ride to view the attractions along the coastline
superrrrrrrr cold *with trembling rrrrr* boat ride larh
it was super hot in the day
but by the time we got on the boat, it was around evening time le
and being out in the sea makes it worse!
see how messy my hair was...
was not long before i ran to hide in the sheltered section of the boat o.O
who managed to sustain that pose for the length of the photo shot..
hahaha, really freezing cold larh

somehow i forgot i wasn't supposed to eat seafood here
cos i never take the hep A injection before i came, hee..
but cooked seafood should be okay bah, i ate sashimi also liao =p
ordered some lala and a stingray..
biggest mistake man, the lala was good but the stingray sucks
there is a mud taste and the way they cook it is lousy too..
after dinner, we proceeded back to our hostel
and to our surprise, the standard of the youth hostel was not bad!
actually it was super good for the price of SGD$7 per night per person
it's bad cos this is the first youth hostel i've ever lived in
and it raises my expectations for other hostels liao, haha..
think they just renovated the place..
that's a small area outside our rooms in the picture up there
someone (班长?) brought lots of beer into our room
cos it's one of bigger rooms, with 8 people staying in the room
and so we were drinking and chatting
*although i was seriously knocking out already*
when chee wee suddenly suggested to invite this ang moh from the next room
and he joined us in our beer drinking and talking rubbish
he sure can talk nonsense lorh, 切死chee wee arh!
hahaha.. one interesting character we met in qingdao =)

some people went to watch the sunrise at like 4am
but nope, sunrise not worth my waking up so early..
and so at about 9am, we had breakfast and went in search of 青岛山炮台遗址
ever since i came to china
i have been climbing mountains and more mountains o.O
met this cute little boy and his law lecturer father..
woah, the kid can sing lots of songs and recite poems larh..
sugeii..
each of us ended up with a cup
and the shop keeper was grinning from ear to ear..
but the red date milk tea was nice =)
which is said to have 8 different kinds of buildings from 8 countries in the area
but me and roomie deviated from the group
because me want to go the 康有为故居 which was nearby
and roomie was so nice to accompany me! =)
basically, his house has been renovated and kept as a museum now
there were displays of his works and also some of his life history
what was amusing was that there was this singapore crocodile
among one of the exhibits in his room, so weird o.O
after leaving 康有为故居
me and roomie arrived at the beach!!
where we were led to believe that there was KFC TWICE!
but in the end, both were not open!!
so in the end, we went to eat at this high class looking cafe near the beach
wahaha, soooo 奢侈!
nothing much at this place at all!
we didn't even manage to see the 8 different kind of builidngs
all we saw were lots and lots and lots of people taking wedding photos
oh man..
walked back to the beach where we saw the jackass game previously
er, to slightly explain, jackass is a PSP game i love to play, hahaa..
it involves doing stupid jackass things such as rolling in a ball on a rooftop
hahaha, and when we saw the rubber ball thing, we were so excited!
alvin, meizhen, yuhao, szehua and kaixuan decided to pay 20RMB to have a try
it's soooooo entertaining to see them trying hard to play around in the ball
HAHAHA.. cheap thrills man..
wooots! our favourite 《药》 author!
reminds me of his 人血馒头 and 包好包好! =))
actually the park has nothing much to do with him
they just named the park after him and build statues there
met up with other 班长 and co to go for dinner
but i felt like eating macs!!
think i have macs addiction ever since i came to china
must be the milk tea they serve here (><)
and so me roomie and caihong went to macs for dinner
while the rest ate at a restaurant..
whatever makes me a happy woman =)
i love the new macs 麻辣 burger!
and i have discovered my love for the thing jasmine hates: 花椒
hahaha..
after dinner, we went exploring, trying to find our way back to the hostel
and on the way, we passed by this church which we wanted to go initially
but it was too dark to see anything~
arrived back at the hostel safe and sound!
sense of achievement sia..
turned out that the rest wanted to sing k somewhere near our dinner place
how can i not go right, when i have been deprived of ktv for so long =p
hahaha, so i dragged roomie and caihong out
ktv with everyone was so crazy and fun larh!!
had a great night of singing and roaring
5 hours worth of ktv and 24 free drinks plus a few plates of snacks
guess what! i only paid SGD$3...
cheap like siao larh..
super touched the moment we started singing 朋友
it's a weird feeling like we are not close but yet sharing this moment together
it's hard to describe, it's once in a lifetime, it's something i won't forget =)
the third and last day of our trip..
had some qingdao draft beer before we embarked on our trips
ooo, as what i said, draft beer tastes better =)
but one whole bag was too much for us early in the morning =p
so we had to split up for activities for the day
i wanted to visit 五四广场 and 老舍故居
and ended up with lots of people following me..
i was STRESSED in capital letters
cos i know for sure they will be bored.. hahaha..
seriously, there was nothing much to see in this two places
but i was interested in going because they are names that ring a bell
as compared to other places of interest in qingdao
and so with our luggages, we came to 五四广场
which was supposedly to commemorate the May fourth movement
because although it happened in beijing, qingdao was part of the cause
but it was a disappointment cos other than the red structure
i couldn't find anything else that represents 五四
and even the red structure has no explanation as to what it means
boo.. so we just ended up taking more pictures
along the way, we passed by a music park and also more statues
me love walking around using a map!
it's quite fun and self fulfilling =D
when we passed by the beach, we saw LOTS of words on the sand
really alot sia, somebody wrote super alot of poems on the sand
in calligraphy! o.O
and so we were inspired to leave our names behind as well
wahahaha..
7 names in a heart, lol..
and time was running out for us cos i still haven't gone to 老舍故居!
we spent alot of time looking for his house
cos no one seems to know where it is o.O
after walking for ages with our my huge luggage
we finally found it!
but to my horror, it was nothing like the 康有为故居 we went the previous day!
it was just a run down house totally preserved the way it was, hahaha..
i felt everyone throwing stares and daggers at me, hahaha..
and we realise there were people living in the house..
but then it was so dusty and messy, i really wonder how..
actually, there is some value in keeping the house the way it is bah
i always complain that things are very commercialised in china
but when something is not structured like a tourist attraction
i actually find it weird..
hmm, but i just don't understand why there is people living there o.O
rushed to the train station after that
and took the express train home =)
nothing like the slump when we went anymore
it was machiam airplane seats and treatment
but it broke down for an hour, grrraaaahhhs!
and that is all for our qingdao adventure!! =)
thanks xinyi for the wonderful arrangement and plans!
ja ne!~
